Refund Policy
How to ask for a refund, what is refundable, and the prorated refund of the unused period if we ban your account.
Draft — not in force. This document is a draft awaiting the owner's review.
VACUUM costs $2 a month or $15 a year. This page says exactly what happens to that money in every situation we could think of, including the ones that are not in our favour.
Who you are actually buying from. The subscription is sold by Paddle as Merchant of Record. Paddle is the legal seller, issues your receipt and any VAT invoice, and processes every refund. VACUUM is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (CNPJ [CNPJ]), and the commitments on this page are ours — Paddle executes them.
1. Cancelling
Cancelling is one action on your account page. No confirmation funnel, no "are you sure", no retention offer, no survey, no discount to keep you.
It takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for. You keep posting until then. Nothing is cut off early and nothing is taken away at the moment you cancel.
Cancelling mid-period does not produce a refund, outside the statutory rights in section 3. You paid for a period; you get the whole period. There is nothing unused to return, because you can use all of it.
After it ends, nothing is held hostage. You go back to the free tier: every connection intact, every invite intact, every unexpired moment you already received still there, and replies still working. You just cannot post something new.
Moments already uploaded still finish delivering. If a moment was posted while you were subscribed, it delivers for its full 30 days even if your subscription ends tomorrow. Uploaded while subscribed means paid for, and halting delivery would punish recipients who did nothing.
Coming back later. If you resubscribe after a gap, you start a new subscription at the current price. There is no reactivation fee, no penalty, and no legacy price you forfeited — because there are no legacy prices at all (section 4).
2. If we ban your account, you get your money back
If we terminate your account for a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy, we cancel your subscription immediately and refund the unused remainder of the period you paid for, prorated to the day.
To be concrete: banned 20 days into a paid month, you get roughly a third of that month back. Banned two months into an annual plan, you get roughly ten months back.
Some details, because they matter:
- The refund is automatic. You do not have to ask for it, and it does not depend on whether you agree with the ban.
- We round the arithmetic in your favour, to the next whole cent.
- Enforcement never waits on the money. The ban and the cancellation take effect at once; the refund is processed alongside them and may take a few days to appear.
- Being refunded does not undo the ban. A ban is permanent and there is no appeal — see the Terms.
3. Your statutory rights
These come from law, not from us. They sit on top of everything above, and nothing on this page limits them.
Brazil — 7 days to change your mind
Under Article 49 of the Código de Defesa do Consumidor, you may withdraw from a purchase made online within 7 days of the purchase, for any reason or none, and receive a full refund of what you paid.
We honour this. Email support@vacuum.social within 7 days of your payment and we will refund it in full through Paddle. You do not need to give a reason.
EEA and UK — 14 days to change your mind
If you bought from within the EEA or the UK, distance-selling law gives you 14 days to withdraw from the purchase. Because Paddle is the seller, Paddle handles that statutory right, and its own buyer terms and refund process apply. We will not stand in the way of it, and if it is easier to ask us, email support@vacuum.social and we will arrange it.
Everywhere else
If the law where you live gives you a refund right stronger than this page, that law wins. We are not going to argue with your consumer-protection statute.
4. If we change the price
The price follows what VACUUM actually costs to run, in both directions. If our costs drop, the price drops. Nobody has a legacy price to protect, and nobody has one to lose.
When the price changes:
- We give at least 60 days' notice by email before it applies to you.
- We change the price at most twice in any 365 days.
- The new price applies at your next renewal, never in the middle of a period. You are never charged extra, credited, or prorated because the price moved.
- If your renewal falls inside the 60-day notice window, you renew once more at the old price and cross over at the renewal after that.
- Every change is substantiated in our annual transparency report.
If you do not want the new price, cancel before it applies. The 60 days exist so that is a real choice, not a notification you find after the charge.
5. If a payment fails
A failed charge is not a cancellation. Posting keeps working while your bank and Paddle retry, and we show you the honest date that window ends. If payment recovers, nothing changed. If it does not, the subscription ends on that date and you return to the free tier.
You are not charged for the retry window, and there is nothing to refund.
6. If we shut VACUUM down
See the Terms. We commit to advance notice, and by design there is no archive to lose.
7. How refunds are actually paid
Refunds are issued by Paddle, back to the original payment method. We do not hold your payment details and cannot pay you any other way.
Timing depends on your bank, not on us — typically a few business days after Paddle processes it.
If a refund is due and has not arrived, email support@vacuum.social with the date of the charge and we will chase it.
8. Disputes and chargebacks
If something looks wrong on your bill, email support@vacuum.social first. It is faster than a chargeback and we would rather fix it than argue with a bank.
If you do raise a chargeback, we cancel the subscription and the account returns to the free tier while it is resolved. You keep your connections and everything you have already received.
9. Contact
